The Phoenix Children’s Pediatric Residency Program is based in the only free-standing children’s hospital in the state of Arizona. We are the only Pediatric Level 1 trauma facility in all of Arizona. We received more than 269,900 unique patient visits in 2022, perform cutting-edge research, and employ more than 900 Pediatric Providers. Phoenix Children’s is located in the beautiful and diverse community of Phoenix, Arizona, and is a state-of-the-art pediatric system hospital known for its patient- and family-centered approach.

Our residency program has 36 residents per year which allows us to employ creative scheduling (“X+Y”) and individualized educational tracks with strong mentorship to support career development. We partner with Valleywise Health, a public safety-net hospital, and St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, a community-based hospital, to offer a diverse experience for our trainees. Phoenix Children’s also sponsors 24 ACGME residency and fellowship programs and has a large primary care network and we are proud that many of our graduates choose to stay here for specialty training and employment. Phoenix Children’s has university affiliations with University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, Creighton University School of Medicine, and Mayo Clinic-Arizona to support the education of local medical students.

The role of Program Director involves a commitment of 70% administrative responsibilities and 30% clinical duties. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching and supervision, curriculum planning and implementation, ensuring trainee competence for promotion, maintaining regulatory compliance, and promoting a workplace that is inclusive and safe for residents to learn and thrive. The Program Director will also serve as a liaison to align the residency program interests with those of Graduate Medical Education and the institution. Qualifications
• BC by the American Board of Pediatrics.
• Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Arizona.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Associate Program Director or Director or extensive leadership experience in medical education.
