Position Summary:

The Internal Medicine Program Director is responsible for the administration and oversight of the Internal Medicine residency program. This includes ensuring compliance with ACGME standards, providing educational leadership, and maintaining the program's accreditation. The Program Director will also work closely with faculty, residents, and hospital leadership to foster an environment of academic excellence and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

· Program Leadership:

o Provide overall leadership and administration of the Internal Medicine residency program.

o Develop and implement program goals, objectives, and policies to align with ACGME accreditation standards and Coffee Regional Medical Center’s mission.

o Oversee the recruitment, selection, and management of faculty and staff within the program.

o Collaborate with hospital leadership and medical staff to advance program goals and objectives.

· ACGME Compliance and Accreditation:

o Ensure continuous compliance with ACGME accreditation standards and manage all aspects of the program’s accreditation processes.

o Work closely with the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) and Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) to maintain and enhance the quality of education and training provided.

· Resident Education and Mentorship:

o Provide educational oversight and mentorship to residents, ensuring their professional and clinical development aligns with program milestones.

o Oversee the curriculum, including didactic education and clinical training, to ensure residents meet all competency requirements.

o Evaluate resident performance and provide ongoing feedback and assessments.

· Scholarly Activity and Professional Development:

o Promote and participate in scholarly activities, including research and publications.

o Encourage residents and faculty to engage in scholarly activities and provide opportunities for professional growth.

· Program Operations and Budgeting:

o Manage the program's financial and operational resources efficiently.

o Collaborate with hospital administration to ensure adequate support and resources for the program.

Qualifications:

· Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).

· Minimum of 3 years of experience as faculty in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program.

· Prior experience in GME administrative roles is required (at least 3 years).

· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively with medical staff and leadership teams.

· Demonstrated experience in scholarly activity, such as publications or research, is preferred.
