Mercy Health is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Internal Medicine Faculty member to join our team. This position offers a unique blend of clinical education and patient care responsibilities, focusing primarily on precepting residents and managing a limited private patient panel. The role involves approximately 80% precepting and 20% direct
patient care, with no call coverage required at this time.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Education and Precepting (80%):
Resident Supervision: Mentor and supervise Internal Medicine residents in the outpatient clinic, providing guidance and support during patient encounters.
Teaching and Evaluation: Deliver high-quality teaching during patient interactions, conduct comprehensive evaluations of residents, and contribute to curriculum development.
Lectures and Mentoring: Act as core faculty by providing lectures, mentoring residents, and evaluating medical students.
Curriculum Development: Actively participate in the development and enhancement of the residency curriculum.
Patient Care (20%):
Private Patient Panel: Manage a small panel of private patients, ensuring high standards of care and maintaining accurate and timely medical records.
Clinical Metrics: Ensure key performance metrics (e.g., PC6, access, quality) are met while delivering exceptional patient care.
Schedule Flexibility: Typically see private patients for approximately 2 half days per week. Schedule may vary based on residency precepting needs.
Administrative Duties:
Faculty and Operational Meetings: Attend faculty and provider operational council meetings.
Faculty Development: Participate in ongoing faculty development activities.
Recruitment and Policy: Assist with recruitment efforts and contribute to the development of clinical policies and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Residency Committees: Participate in residency-required committees, lectures, and recruitment efforts.

Qualifications:
Education: Board-certified in Internal Medicine.
Experience: Prior experience in academic medicine and residency training is preferred.
Skills: Strong mentoring and teaching abilities, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to balance educational and patient care responsibilities.
