Reporting Relationships: The CMR reports directly to the Program Director and is cooperatively supervised by the Associate Program Directors and Program Administrator.
Authority: The CMR carries the full authority of the Program Director in implementing the duties and responsibilities delineated in this job description, and has full oversight authority over
PGY-1, 2 and 3 residents in implementing their duties and responsibilities. The CMR represents the program director in interpreting and enforcing rules and policies on-site.
Basic Functions of the Position: The CMRs role is to assist the Program Director in fulfilling the goals and objectives of the residency program. They serve as house staff advocates ensuring high standards for the Residency Program. They actively promote an atmosphere of medical academics by means of formal teaching conferences and systematic review of milestone medical literature with house staff. CMRs act as a liaison between house staff and the administration, both for immediate problem solving and in the long-term planning of residency training program goals.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Chief Medical Resident is expected to devote at least 40 hours per week to this effort. Time is roughly divided into the following responsibilities:
