Resident Specific:
o Supervise residents and medical students in the outpatient continuity clinic
o Create an effective ambulatory practice, balancing educational, service, and patient needs
o Develop processes that teach residents cost-effective medicine through programs to manage pharmaceutical costs, document/code/bill correctly, consult appropriately, and time management
o Continually revise and
implement ambulatory curriculum by identifying and expanding ambulatory learning experiences to provide a balanced education in ambulatory medicine
o Complete resident and student evaluations as assigned by the program/department
o Mentor resident physicians
o Participate in resident morning report on weekdays when patient care activities allow
o Participate in curriculum development with the Residency program
o Advises and assists in resident evaluation
o Completes faculty evaluations of residents in a timely manner
o Evaluate physician residents, using competency-based/milestone evaluations via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methods
o Respect the ACGME limits on resident work hours, pay close attention to signs of fatigue and sleep deprivation in individuals, and intervene as appropriate
Clinic Duties:
o Serves as the Ambulatory Site Director for the hospital-based Internal Medicine Continuity Clinic at Sutter Roseville Medical Center
o Serve as general medicine attending physician of record or consultant for patients in the outpatient clinic
o Perform or supervise the performance of patient care services including history-physical examinations and reports, clinic visit notes and evaluations, and similar services that are customarily performed in an outpatient general medicine clinic
o Make referrals for secondary and tertiary care
o Collaborate with other attending physicians and consultants
o Document involvement in patient care in the medical record and record charges appropriate to the level of service provided and documented
o Participate in performance improvement projects
o Perform duties in a manner that complies with all applicable standards, rules, policies, and regulations of the hospital, Sutter Roseville Medical Center, Sutter Health, Joint Commission, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations
o Provide medical direction and administration to ensure an adequate and qualified learning experience for the internal medicine residents
o Develop the schedule for the Clinic attending physicians
o In conjunction with program leadership, approve attendings to supervise in the continuity clinic
o Direct provider and medical care team meetings
o Participate in various administrative/clinical staff meetings
o Participates as a member of the internal medicine residency leadership team
o Provide leadership and assist in efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the resident clinic
o Serve as a member of the Clinical Competence Committee and Program Evaluation Committee and attend faculty and residency meetings
o Support and participate in scholarly activity that has an ambulatory or quality improvement focus
o Ensure that faculty and residents comply with procurement and capital equipment purchases process and agree to work within the framework of the standardized medical
o supply, equipment, office supply, formulary, medical records, clinical pathway guidelines, etc.
o Ensure that faculty and residents comply with all managed care policies including utilization review and monitoring
o Participate in committees as assigned by the Program Director
o Develop and provide ongoing updates on the goals and objectives related to resident rotations assigned by Program Director
o Serve as faculty mentor for the resident / provide role modeling opportunities an
ongoing mentorship for residents
o Duties as assigned by the Program Director
