The Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), a highly regarded community academic medical center in Towson, Maryland (just outside Baltimore City), seeks a Program Director for its Internal Medicine (IM) Residency.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated current Associate Program Director, Associate Fellowship Director, or Program Director (PD) looking
for an opportunity to lead a training program. The program has 36 categorical residents, 8 preliminary interns, and medical students. The training environment is rich, and the program is very well resourced and connected. Its mission is “To develop physician leaders who practice evidence-based medicine lifelong; who transform health care systems to become patient-centered, safe, and efficient; and who promote the health and wellness of the community”. The PD reports to the Chairman of Medicine and Designated Institutional Official (DIO). The training program has full access to a modern simulation center, a medical journal (JCHIMP), and affiliation agreements for clinical training with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of Maryland.
The hospital (GBMC) is part of a full spectrum health system (birth to geriatrics and outpatient clinics), has 344 total beds and serves a socio-demographically diverse population. In addition to IM, there are sponsored and affiliated GME programs in five specialties. Further, the hospital is a training site for its affiliates in several specialties. GBMC has been nationally recognized in the Leadership Category by the Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award. GBMC is the only healthcare system in Maryland to have earned this recognition.
