This position requires a mature individual with excellent organizational and management skills and administrative experience in medical education at the undergraduate medical educational clerkship and/or graduate medical education residency/fellowship program levels.
•This position requires flexibility in work hour availability to accommodate the clinical demands of the faculty, fellows, residents, and
students in the Department of Internal Medicine.
•The Program Manager for Internal Medicine Education will report to the residency and clerkship program directors. The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and Director have ultimate supervisory authority over the position.
•The position will assist in the supervision of administrative staff in the Internal Medicine educational programs: fellowships, residency, and medical student clerkship – approximately five (5) staff positions.
•The Program Manager for Internal Medicine Education will understand the mission of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Morehouse School of Medicine in the education of the medical practitioners of the future.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Administrative Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Division of Internal Medicine Education office and work with the Program Directors (PDs), Program Managers (PMs); and the GME DIO and Director.
Fellowship and Resident Recruitment
Assist the Program Directors (PD) and Managers (PM) in managing the recruitment process which includes:
•Screen/invite/select/rank candidates
•Create and update recruitment brochures, the website, and other materials provided to applicants
•Coordination of candidate interviews, meeting the residents and faculty, and tour of the facilities
Program Accreditation
•Advise the PDs of ACGME Internal Medicine residency and fellowship program requirements
•Assure completion of Annual Program Evaluations, Semiannual Program Evaluations, and Special Review Progress Reports to GMEC or Associate Dean for Student Affairs
•Serve as key participant in ACGME/GME/ and LCME reviews
Human Resources
•Assist the PDs with monitoring resident and student morale and respond to concerns
•Assist the PDs with the due process procedure and adverse actions such as resident and student remediation, probation, or termination
•Assist the PDs and PMs with management of ECFMG J1-visa sponsorship duties
Professional Development and Exposure
•Attend monthly GMEC meetings and meetings of GME program managers
•Attend annual meetings of the Association of Program Directors in Medicine or the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine Education (AAIM)
•Engage in lifelong learning by taking courses for further professional growth, knowledge, and expertise to enhance Internal Medicine education administration skills
