The latest issue of AHME News is posted on the AHME website and the print edition has been mailed to members. This issue features: an article from Tia Drake, AHME's new Executive Director; a piece on the AMA's Precision Education; member articles on the role of the GME Ombudsperson and on LOA Impact; an update on MyIntealthTM from the ECFMG; a report on the highlights of our return to an in-person Institute in April; project summaries from the presenters of this year’s first-place award winners of the AHME Institute Poster Session; a spotlight on the activities of AHME’s Council of Transitional Year Program Directors; and a photo spread of the third annual GME Professionals Day. Information about the new AHME Message Board, AHME educational opportunities, and the 2024 AHME Institute are also included.

AHME Webinars

AHME’s Council of Program Administrators and Coordinators (COPAC) has planned a webinar for Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 1:00PM (Eastern). The session is entitled How to Effectively Navigate ACGME Requirements with Program and Institutional Policies and it will feature presentations from Natasha Brocks, C-TAGME, GME Coordinator, Abrazo Health and Christina Tarleton, C-TAGME, Administrative Director for Education, John Hopkins University School of Medicine. At the conclusion of the session, the learner should be able to:

1.   apply policy framework to recognize how policies contribute to effective decision making

2.   demonstrate how policies contribute to effective decision making

3.   recognize instances where policies can be utilized to improve work-related situations

 

AHME’s Council of Institutional Leaders (COIL) has planned a webinar for Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:00PM (Eastern). The session is entitled Promoting Change in the GME Clinical Learning Environment and it will feature presentations from Erin Reis, EdD, MBA, FACHE, C-TAGME, Associate Chief Academic Officer for McLaren Health Care and Lori Smith, EdD, MBA, MSL, Director of GME at Bayhealth Medical Center. At the conclusion of the session, the learner should be able to:

1.   understand the external and internal factors that influence change in GME

2.   learn to effectively use Kotter’s change theory to lead change

3.   become equipped with skills and resources for practical application
