About the Role:
Central Michigan University’s College of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Associate Dean of Faculty Development. This key leadership position will drive faculty development initiatives, mentor faculty across all academic ranks, and contribute to the college’s strategic priorities. The Associate Dean will play a vital role in fostering a culture of excellence in medical education, leadership, and scholarship. Associate Dean Faculty Development will work with the Senior Associate Dean Academic Affairs and department chairs in ensuring programming is meeting the mission and needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead faculty development initiatives, including workshops, seminars, individual consultations, and mentorship programs.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to support faculty in academic career advancement, leadership development, and scholarly growth.
• Advise the Dean on best practices related to faculty appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure.
• Oversee the development of best practices for faculty development across all CMU medical education entities.
• Lead Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs to ensure accreditation and compliance.
• Participate in strategic initiatives to support LCME accreditation and faculty affairs.
• Engage in scholarship and educational research, with an expectation of continued academic contributions.
• A MD/DO will have clinical allocation of time for clinical responsibilities to be determined based on candidate’s qualifications and professional interests.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity by working to develop a culture of inclusion and mutual respect

Required Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or DO).
• Must meet rank of at least Associate Professor as outlined in the medical faculty appointment manual
• Demonstrated experience in the areas of faculty development in an academic setting
• Strong collaborative interprofessional education
• Established credentials and experience in medical education, leadership, and/or administration.
• Experience developing and mentoring medical school faculty

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in cross-disciplinary teaching in an integrated medical school curriculum.
• Clinical education experience
• Knowledge of pedagogical approaches such as team-based learning.
• Successful attainment of extramural funding
