St Joseph’s Medical Center is seeking a Program Director to help launch a Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine Fellowship.
The Palliative Care and Hospice Medicine fellowship program director (PD) will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of a program that fosters the education of fellows who will provide inpatient and outpatient consultative services in palliative care and hospice medicine, including symptom management, shared decision making with patients and families to achieve goals of care, and work within a multi-disciplinary team. The Program Director will lead educational efforts for fellows, residents, hospital staff and allied care professionals regarding symptom management, goals of care discussions and care transitions.
Clinical and faculty appointment in primary specialty available (e.g., psychiatry, family or internal medicine, emergency medicine).
Program Director will have paid protected time for academic and administrative duties as required of the role.

Qualifications:
Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution.
Current full, unrestricted California state licensure
BC/BE in Palliative care and Hospice Medicine
A least 3 years previous experience in teaching, mentoring, or program leadership, preferably in a fellowship or residency setting.
one year working with an interdisciplinary PC team
Strong knowledge of addiction medicine principles, evidence-based practices, and current research.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
