Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) located in Columbus OH, is an independent, not-for-profit, academic medical center with 628 inpatient beds. With over 13,000 employees working at over 50 locations in Central and Southeastern Ohio, NCH provides state-of-the-art pediatric care for over 1.6 million patient visits annually from all 50 states and 45 countries. NCH is one of the nation’s largest freestanding pediatric healthcare networks and has been consistently ranked a U.S.News & World Report Honor Roll children’s hospital in recent years.
NCH has 29 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited programs and 35 additional medical and surgical graduate medical education (GME) programs. Surgical fellowship programs include adolescent bariatric surgery, minimally invasive surgery, pediatric colorectal surgery, pediatric dentistry, pediatric pelvic reconstruction, pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric orthopedics, pediatric otolaryngology, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric plastic surgery, pediatric surgery, congenital cardiac surgery, and surgical critical care/trauma. In addition, NCH has teaching affiliation agreements with approximately 100 schools and educational programs that train more than 3,000 students each year.
NCH has approximately 1,000 staff physicians, most of whom have faculty appointments in the Ohio State University College of Medicine. The Department of Pediatrics has 550 faculty members in the College of Medicine. Other departments based on the NCH campus include pediatric radiology, pediatric anesthesiology, pediatric pathology, pediatric psychiatry and multiple pediatric surgical subspecialties.
