WittKieffer is proud to announce its partnership with Carle Health System (Carle) for the search of a physician leader to serve as the Family Medicine Residency Program Director (Program Director). Carle is seeking an innovative, dynamic and collaborative physician who will enhance the organization's Family Medicine Residency Program with an unyielding commitment to medical education.

Based in Urbana, Illinois, Carle is a physician led, vertically integrated healthcare system caring for a patient base of 1.4 million. Carle is anchored by the Level 1 trauma, 413-bed, Carle Foundation Hospital, in addition to a 134-bed community hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital; Carle Medical Group, a 425+ physician multispecialty group; the Health Alliance Health Plan and numerous health related businesses. The System is closely aligned with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and in partnership, has established the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine, which just accepted its first class in 2018.

The program director position reports into the Designated Institutional Official (DIO), with an additional reporting relationship to the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Primary Care (ACMO). The Program Director will have general oversight and executive managerial responsibility for the fully accredited ACGME Family Medicine Residency Program, with oversight of the members of the Residency Program's administrative support team.

This unique and highly visible position will work in concert with the DIO and ACMO, as well as the medical staff as a whole to foster an environment that values and supports educational programs and work to build and strengthen the Family Medicine Residency program for the System. The Family Medicine Residency Program is closely integrated with Carle's primary care service line, as well as with the robust institutional population health and ACO activities.

The Program Director will have dedicated time for administrative, educational, strategic and research initiatives, while providing oversight of the Family Medicine Residency Program. Candidates are required to have a minimum of three years faculty teaching experience within Family Medicine Residency. Additional academic leadership experience serving in assistant/associate or program director role is preferred. Board Certification in Family Medicine is required, and an added advanced degree is highly desired.
