We are seeking an innovative physician leader to further develop and improve upon the outstanding foundation that exists supporting training and education of our future physicians. The Program Director will have the opportunity to assume leadership of a
fully ACGME accredited 30 resident per year Internal Medicine Residency program in rapidly growing Idaho Falls, ID.
The largest medical facility in the region, Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is a modern, Joint Commission-accredited, 330-bed full-service hospital located in Idaho Falls.
EIRMC serves as the region’s healthcare hub, offering specialty services including cardiovascular surgery, leading-edge cancer treatment, trauma, neurosurgery, intensive care for adults and infants, and a helicopter and ground medical rescue service.
The Program Director is responsible for the leadership, organization, operation, and the general administration of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. The Program Director establishes the strategic direction of the program and is responsible for the standards, quality and reputation of the program. The Program Director is expected to integrate the Internal Medicine Residency Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances quality of patient care, patient experience, clinical services value and quality, and that promotes an optimal environment for medical education and professional practice.
Responsibilities of the Program Director are as follows:
1. All administrative and educational activities of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, including clinical instruction of residents at a minimum of 0.5 FTE. The Clinical has an option of outpatient IM or Hospitalist.
2. The Program Director and the faculty are responsible for the implementation of the Internal Medicine residency curriculum to provide a high quality education program and to meet the requirements of the ACGME. The curriculum provides educational goals and objectives appropriate for each level of training in the program. The Program Director is responsible for establishing the clinical and educational assignments and schedule of the residents to achieve the educational objectives of the program.
3. Select qualified Internal Medicine physicians and other specialists to serve on the program faculty. Organize the faculty to deliver a consistently high quality education program. Evaluate the performance of faculty in meeting program objectives. Approve the continued participation of program faculty based on evaluation of performance. Develop and implement programs to enhance the knowledge, clinical expertise, and teaching skills of the faculty. Assure that faculty meet research and scholarly activity requirements of the program, including active participation in the clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and research conferences in a manner that promotes a spirit of inquiry and scholarship.
4. Organize and direct the Internal Medicine Residency Program, including the organization of clinical rotations and other educational activities at all clinical sites. Ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education at all participating sites. The program director must administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in each of the ACGME competency areas.
5. Monitor resident supervision. The Program Director shall assure that residents are assigned clinical responsibilities appropriate for their level of training and level of knowledge and skill, are appropriately supervised in clinical assignments, and provide safe and effective patient care.
6. Recruit and select the Internal Medicine residents in concert with institutional policies, guidelines, and budgets.
7. Prepare and submit all information required and requested by the ACGME, including, but not limited to, the program application forms and annual program updates through the ACGME Accreditation Data System. Prepare for on-site program accreditation reviews as necessary.... More >><< Less
