INTERNAL MEDICINE RESIDENCY

Assists the physician program director manage the residency by ensuring that accreditation standards are met, educational activities which support the curriculum are established, departmental policies are created and enforced, and recruitment strategies are implemented so that a highly successful residency program is maintained.
Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator are as follows:

1. Serves as program coordinator of the Internal Medicine Residency and provides administrative support to the Program Director. (C)
2. Responsible for the overall management of internal medicine residency office. (C)
3. Responsible for maintaining accurate records in New Innovations, FREIDA, ERAS, NRMP, ACGME Web Ads, and other sites as needed.
4. Supervises department secretary. (C)
5. Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. (C)
6. Integrates and demonstrates values and expectations for personal and service excellence to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures of PHCC.
7. Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to other’s views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests. (C)
8. Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. (C)
9. Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule. (C)
10. Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. (C)
11. Assists director in meeting the current standards established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, Internal Medicine Residency Review Committee, and American Board of Internal Medicine. (C)
12. Develops departmental policies and procedures which are consistent and compatible with those adopted by the ACGME and PHCC. (O)
13. Jointly oversees the planning and implementation of continuing medical education activities including the visiting lectureship series, as well as other programs. (C)
14. Oversees medical student rotation scheduling. (F)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent on the job experience. Master’s degree with a focus in adult education preferred.
• Demonstrate successful office management experience. Demonstrate extensive experience in adult education program administration. Familiarity with word processors and computers.
• Excellent administrative, language, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, communication and personal relations skills required.
• Ability to work under stress with many demands on time and maintain excellent organization of work, personal skills and relationships with others.
• Ability to manage and prioritize work projects.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changes in work requirements and assignments.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
